Ángel Francisco López Morán (Ciudad de México, 1963) no ha tenido una vida convencional. Después de leer Así habló Zaratustra de joven, decidió que lo suyo no era la religión y se entregó de lleno a la música y al arte. Cuando se mudó a Toronto, no tardó en sumergirse en las noches hedonistas y narcóticas de sus modernas discotecas y fue perfilando su afición por la cultura de club. Una de aquellas veladas locas terminó en Nueva York, bailando en el Paradise Garage con el mítico Larry Levan a los platos. Tocó en varios grupos oscuros de influencia post-punk como Jesus and the Mutants o Fandango, que apenas han dejado registro sonoro, aunque también en Bambi, que grabó un álbum, y en On, que llegó a producir un disco con Warner Suecia apadrinado por el propio Malcolm McLaren, el mánager de los Sex Pistols. Pero fue como productor y después tras los Technics de las pistas barcelonesas bajo el alias de Professor Angel Dust donde se forjó un nombre y se consolidó como uno de los DJ más prestigiosos de los noventa, actuando en las principales cabinas de la Ciudad Condal y en algunas de las más selectas de Europa, desde donde impartió la cátedra del funk y los ritmos rotos. El éxito le llegó con su deslumbrante versión de «Oye cómo va», de Santana, que lo arrastró hasta el mainstream —del que renegó—, y brilló junto a su hermano Diego Delippo en las noches Bongo Lounge de La Paloma, a principios del nuevo siglo. Sin embargo, todo se derrumbó de golpe cuando se vio inmerso en una trama siniestra que lo llevó a pasar casi cinco años privado de libertad en algunos de los centros penitenciarios más inhóspitos de Panamá. Aun así, supo reinventarse entre rejas y reformó un viejo estudio de grabación, donde empezó a trabajar con los reclusos y a grabar música de nuevo. En el estómago de la bestia son sus memorias, que avanzan a un ritmo frenético por las luces y las sombras de una vida vivida al límite.

My Bio and Me

México, my roots

Born in CDMX ( Mëxico City) where he started his musical education at age 5 at the Conservatorio Nacional, studing musical theory and piano.

He grew up surrounded by musicians, poets and singers in the family, and started to play the organ at weddings at age 12. Studied guitar for a few years and got interested in tropical music, Mambo, Cumbia, Cha cha cha and Salsa..

He was lucky to be exposed through his early days to a wide variety of music, rock, blues, jazz, contemporary, classical.

Toronto & NY, post punk

At 18 he moves to Canada where he will graduate in Experimental Art at O.C.A. in Toronto, in the middle of the post punk scene.

Creates his first band Jesus and the Mutants, working with the first samplers, Atari computers and a bunch of analogue equipment. Developing his interest in electronic music and productions work in Wellesley Studios where he worked as an assistant for a few years. Later on, forms a local duo with Betty Moon, called Bambi and had his first song in the Canadian alternative charts, Rock On.

It is also in Canada where he starts to DJ, first for breakdancing competitions and then in the underground house and electro emerging scene.

Barcelona, the party starts!

Moves to Barcelona in 1990, where he starts to dj. At the VOTS parties in various clubs and creates the project ON, that would evolve to be signed by Warner Sweden putting out an album (From Now On ) executive produced by Malcolm McClaren, a big mentor and teacher in his career.

After the Olympic games he creates his alter ego, Professor Angel Dust and quickly becomes one of the top DJs in Spain in the explosion of the electronic music scene, slowly becoming a national legend.

In 2000 starts to run Bongo Lounge, a club at La Paloma in Barcelona, which will grow and grow for the following seven years , becoming famous for the full on parties with international DJs with him and his brother as the house DJs and promoters, with a media of 1000 people per night and awarded with best club night in the world by Lonely Planet in 2006.

He also runs an independent hip hop label, R.I.C.O. Entertainment, producing and releasing (as Pachecos )over 5 albums with local talent and international M.Sc.’s from the top of the cream in the underground hip hop scene.

Panamá, the Tropical years

From 2008 to 2013 he was based in Panama where living in the middle of the jungle, he created the RAM (Rehabilitación a través de la música), a music rehabilitation program for prisoners.  Achieving to build a full-on recording studio, in Renacer (A prison rehabilitation centre), where he composed and produced a song called ‘Paz en el Ghetto’ (written by prisoners’ and interpreted by all the major personalities from Panama, and stars of music tv cinema sports… It was a song to call for disarmament in the ghettos of Panama and a cry for peace.

He also released a series of records under the aka P.A. Sound and produced most the underground scene in Panama.

Now-Here

Based back in Barcelona from 2013, continues producing, recording, dj and playing live.

In 2018 he creates the band WarmGun, where he sings, composes and produces, releasing their first album ‘Inside’.  Currently finishing their second album WarmGun «Listen To The Time» to be released this year.

Bongo Lounge is currently doing parties in different venues across Barcelona
